David Harvey is Director of Client Services, Technology Practice, resident in the Northern Virginia office. Among other services, he assists early stage technology companies in locating venture capital, establishing strategic partnerships and preparing for investor presentations.
Prior to joining the firm, Mr. Harvey was the manager of Business Development for the Fairfax County, Virginia, Economic Development Authority, and is widely regarded as having helped transform Fairfax County into a venture capital hub. As manager of the Capital Attraction Program, he guided the County's efforts to facilitate local venture capital activity and assisted start-up companies in their funding efforts. During the last four quarters of his tenure, venture capital investment in county companies surpassed the $1 billion mark.
Active in professional, as well as e-commerce and business development organizations, Mr. Harvey is a member of the eIncubator Board of Advisors. He serves on the advisory board to the 2001 Red Herring Fairfax Portfolio event and co-chairs the Grubstake Breakfast coaching committee. Mr. Harvey served as a member of the company selection committee for the 2001 Mid-Atlantic Venture Association ACapitol Connection@ event. He is also actively involved with the Northern Virginia Technology Council, the Mid-Atlantic Venture Association and the Red Herring Venture Market series.
Mr. Harvey received his master's degree, summa cum laude, in public administration from George Mason University in 1996. He is a 1984 cum laude graduate of James Madison University, where he majored in international business and studied at the University of London.
